At Mill Park Primary School, we understand that transition can be a challenging experience for students. That’s why we offer a range of transition programs to ensure that our students can move into their new classrooms or learning environment with confidence and excitement.

Our Kinder Links and Prep Transition program takes place in Term 4. Our new students are paired with Year 6 Buddies who provide them with support and guidance as they adapt to school life. We also hold information sessions for new Prep parents to keep them informed about the transition process.

For our current students, we offer an Intraschool Transition Program before the end of Term 4. This program allows them to experience what the following year will be like, understand the expectations of their new year level, and adjust to new expectations. Moreover, we hold a ‘Meet the Teacher Day’ in the last week of Term 4, where students spend two sessions in their new classroom with their new teacher.

Finally, our Year 6 students have the chance to visit a local secondary college before the State-wide Orientation Day or individual College Orientation Days in December. This helps them to feel confident and prepared for the transition to secondary school.
